Updated: More Publishers Added!
Given the Covid-19 emergency, publishers of law school casebooks and texts have agreed to make many casebooks available electronically to our students for free. The Law Library is working out the details of remote access with the publishers. Each publisher has a different policy so please follow the guidelines below.
LexisNexis and Carolina Academic Press
Many of these publisher’s textbooks are available through the VitalSource platform. Click to access the VitalSource login page. You MUST use your Chicago-Kent email address to create your account. Then click on the “Explore” link to search for your casebook or text. You are limited to seven (7) casebooks and texts total across all publishers.
Wolters Kluwer and Aspen Publishing
Many of these publisher’s textbooks are available through the VitalSource platform. Click to access the VitalSource login page. You MUST use your Chicago-Kent email address to create your account. Then click on the “Explore” link to search for your casebook or text. You are limited to seven (7) casebooks and texts total across all publishers.
West Academic
Offers complimentary eBook access to casebooks for students that do not have access to their required course materials such as students who share books, or use another copy and do not have personal access to the content.
- Have created a West Academic account (same as your West Academic Study Aids (WASA) account; this is not your Westlaw). If you need to create a West Academic account, click here.
- Next, call 877.888.1330 (ext.4) to setup your eBook access.
- Have the title, author, or ISBN for your casebook available.
Bluebook Online
Contact library at refreq@kentlaw.iit.edu to obtain an access key. To set up an account, enter the key at legalbluebook.com where it says “Bluebook Key Redemption” and follow the on-screen instructions. Use your Chicago-Kent email address for your username. Keys can only be used once. Going forward, you will access your account with your username and password. Your subscription is active 60 days from the date you redeem the key on the website.
