The Transcript, 1917-1929?

The Transcript

The Transcript, the yearbook of Chicago-Kent College of Law, began publication in 1917. In the foreword of that first volume, the editors wrote that they hoped the publication would “help cement the ties that bind students, alumni, and faculty together in closest bonds of interest and devotion.”

The graduating class oversaw the project, and in addition to the editors representing each class and a variety of organizations, there was a class poet and a class prophet who predicted the future of each graduate. There were basketball, football, and tennis teams in addition to the Burke Debating Society, which “teaches one to fight one minute and laugh with his former opponent the next.”

There were several legal fraternities, and one sorority, Kappa Beta Pi, founded in 1908 at Chicago-Kent. This photo of some of the members is from the 1926 edition of The Transcript. Below are photos of the Baseball and Basketball teams from The Transcript published in 1925.
