Progressive Advocacy in the Age of Trump

The ACS Chicago Lawyer Chapter and the Chicago-Kent College of Law and Northwestern University School of Law Student Chapters hosted a panel discussion on progressive advocacy and activism under the Trump administration.

The panel was moderated by Professor Steven J. Heyman and featured these speakers:

  • Colleen Connell, Executive Director, ACLU of Illinois; Lawyer Chapters Advisory Board Member
  • Sabeel Rahman, Assistant Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, a Schmidt Family Fellow at New America, and a Four Freedoms Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute. Sabeel will contribute a unique perspective as it relates to his recent book, Democracy Against Domination, which argues that democracy is threatened by economic domination and the erosion in the capacity of everyday people to hold private actors and policymakers accountable.
  • Carolyn Shapiro, Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States, Chicago-Kent College of Law; Lawyer Chapters Advisory Board Member
  • David Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Faculty Director, University of Chicago; Lawyer Chapters Advisory Board Member
